Just think of waking as your body has just gone through 7-8 hours of fasting, it’s hungry! We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but did you know it influences your metabolism for the rest of your day and it happens within the first 30 minutes? You’ll want to satisfy that immediate need for calories but also replenish the nutrients it had expended throughout the night on repairing your body. I’m talking about muscles, brain cells, bones, and even your hair. This is the time where your body can absorb the most nutrients that you ingest, so take advantage of it. You’ll also want to replenish the water in your cells.
I like to start with my daily dose of vitamin supplements along with half a cup of water to wash it down with. After washing up, I’ll prepare a personal smoothie and take it with me on my way to work. I like to start my day with a spinach smoothie. Recently, I also like adding flax seeds or half a lemon to help detox my system. I like the taste of sour so I add the lemon, but that’s just my preference. If you still prefer a sweet smoothie, you can add a banana or sweet pineapple chunks. Think of the smoothie as a healthier, cheaper and more filling option than going on the juicing diet. The fiber and air bubbles will help you feel full until lunch time. As if right on queue, your stomach will growl when it’s lunch time and not a minute sooner.
